ceramic braces VS metal braces

Assalamualaikum dan selamat sejahtera,

My Braces Story 🦷

Before I decided which braces to wear, I spent a lot of time searching online. But honestly? I couldn’t find much info, so here’s my personal review based on experience. This is for anyone curious about braces or unsure which type to choose.

Step 1: The Dental Visit

The day I went to the dentist, I thought I was going to get metal braces. But the doctor asked, “Why don’t you try ceramic?”

I asked what the difference was, and they told me:

  1. Less pain – lower risk of ulcers.

  2. Follow-up every 2 months – perfect for me because monthly visits are hard to manage.

  3. Less obvious – people barely notice you’re wearing them.

  4. Faster results – apparently faster than metal braces.

So… I chose ceramic transparent braces.

Step 2: Choosing Between Types

Ceramic braces come in two types:

  • Like metal braces

  • Transparent (slightly more expensive)

I went with transparent for my upper teeth and metal for my lower teeth because the full transparent set wasn’t in stock. No big deal—I was fine with mixing them.

Step 3: Wearing the Braces

The process wasn’t painful, but it did take time—around 45 minutes or more. At first, it hurt a little, but nothing too dramatic.

  • First week: I couldn’t eat much.

  • After 3 months: I could chew normally again.

Funny thing? I didn’t lose any weight 😅. I love my curves—it’s what keeps me warm!

Step 4: People’s Reactions

Honestly, ceramic transparent braces are so discreet.

  • My best friend didn’t notice for two weeks, even though I was eating in front of her.

  • Most classmates don’t even know I’m wearing them.

  • Outsiders? Totally clueless.

My Advice:

If you ask me which type to pick: go for ceramic transparent braces.

  • You barely feel them.

  • People barely notice them.

  • They’re comfortable and low-maintenance.

I’m really happy with my decision. Honestly, wearing braces doesn’t change my life at all—except for the small initial adjustment.
