STUDENT UNIVERSITY LIFE TALK

Assalamualaikum semua,

Entri ni rasa macam nak buat esaimen pon hado, muhaha…

What to expect when you become a university student:

1. A LOT of assignments
Seriously, a LOT. Especially as a Universiti Malaya student. The worst part? You can’t depend on anyone, not even your best friend. Your assignments are marked based on how well you understand, research, and present. For me, one semester felt like 40 assignments. Yes… 40. And most of them come with presentations where you must show how much you actually know about your topic. Sometimes, you even have to create your own title and squeeze your brain to write it perfectly.

2. Stress
A little (okay, maybe a lot). You have to juggle classes, assignments, college projects, faculty programs, and a ton of campus activities. I can’t just stay in my room doing nothing, so I join as much as I can. That adds stress. Then there’s group assignments where teamwork doesn’t really exist, tight deadlines, stuck on a topic that no one understands, organizing programs while checking flow, AND preparing for presentations where lecturers comment in front of everyone… yeah, stress.

3. No time to eat
Eating timetable? What’s that? Some days I barely remember if I’ve eaten. I usually eat once a day because… priorities shift. Either you’re alone, too lazy to go to a café, or too busy to care.

4. Independence
University teaches you independence fast. You make your own decisions. Stop depending on others. Embrace the challenges—they’ll become great memories once you overcome them.

5. Meet a lot of people
If you step out of your comfort zone, you’ll meet ALL types of people. I go to classes with friends from my faculty, hang out with friends from another faculty, and attend programs with even more people. Join as many campus activities as possible—experience is everything.

6. Crushes
Haha… be prepared.

7. Start aging
Eyebags, dark circles, stress wrinkles, and maybe even some white hairs from thinking too much. Exams, presentations, deadlines, and late-night laptops do this to you. Trust me.

8. A new life
University is completely different from your hometown life. New friends, new environment, and a chance to know yourself better. Hang out, dress up, put on makeup for events, order Domino’s or KFC for dinners with friends. Your true friend here is yourself, so laugh, enjoy, and make memories.

Tips from me: Enjoy life to the fullest. Don’t be scared of what the future holds—face your fears confidently! ^^

xoxo,jack
